ELGIN CITY – ROSS COUNTY

ELGIN CITY – ROSS COUNTY (0:1)

STADIUM: BOROUGH BRIGGS

Saturday 1st July 2017

This was my first taste of football this season and after 10 minutes i realised just how boring friendlies can be. Both teams were mixed full of trialists and youth players, the tempo was slow, chances were sporadic and the atmosphere pretty dull.

Borough Briggs however is a delight, it’s a ground that i really enjoy visiting which has retained it’s eloquent charm nestled next to the town centre. Elgin City were a Highland League club until they stepped up to the Scottish League set up in 2000 along with fellow Highland Leagers Peterhead. There once was an old gun turret located high on the East terrace but unfortunately this had to be dismantled in 2000 prior to admittance to the League 2. It’s on of these ground where you can freely change ends at half time and on a sunny dry day, like today, one can sit on the grass bankings behind each goal.
