Dunfermline Athletic – Ross County (2:2)
Stadium: East End Park
Saturday 9th January 2016
Back home after my Italian trip, i attended this Scottish Cup 4th Round match held at East End Park. I had not been to the stadium since 2007…not much, if anything, has changed. I was in with the away fans and were herded into a small section of the main stand. We were about 200 strong.
As soon as the teams entered the field some silly 16 year old decided to throw a smoke bomb onto the field and then another narrowly missed a guy and his son in the first row. I am all for pyrotechnics if it is used in a controlled and sensible manner not when it is is the hands of an irresponsible youngster unaware of the consequences. Luckily no injuries and he was quickly identified and shall we say…asked to leave. His mates thought he was big but the rest of the crowd did not.
This was a cracker of a cup tie with both teams going full pelt for a win. The Pars, riding high at the top of League 1, were inspired by the forceful running of Faissal El Bakhtaoui. County keen to progress in a competition they have done very well in recent seasons. It was thrilling stuff and in the end Dunfermline would probably feel aggrieved not to win as some superb stops by County keeper Scott Fox thwarted their progress.
